Collection Review: Stay Country by Dustin Lynch

Country Music Star Dustin Lynch Brings His Exclusive Clothing Line, Stay Country To Evine Live.

Picture
This past Monday, I had a wonderful evening at the Evine Live studios attending the press meet & greet/preview of the  Stay Country collection from Dustin Lynch. It was a delightful time sipping champagne while checking out the rocker meets country chic viben collection. I was even able to have some time (5 min to be precise) with Dustin himself to ask him a few questions about Stay Country and of course to snag a quick picture with him while listening to his latest chart toping album "Current Mood". His Evine-exclusive clothing line is a perfect reflection of his grounded, down-to-earth personal style.

“As I have grown as an artist, I discovered my own personal sense of style and sought out items that not only looked good, but also represented who I am and where I came from,” said Lynch. “Stay Country isn’t just a clothing brand, it’s a lifestyle that reflects down-home tradition and nothing but good times."

Reflective of the collection's name, Stay Country features rugged elements like oil-washing, distressing and stud details, the line beautiful blends classic country influences with just the right amount of edge, a look that is trending across today’s modern country scene. In addition to women’s styles (sizing), the collection will offer a select number of unisex options including t-shirts and a denim jacket with the wording  Stay Country on the back.

 Q & A
with
  Dustin Lynch

TwT: Obviously your career in country music influenced the design and overall look of your line, but what other outside influences or inspirations came into play while creating this collection?

Dustin: I have the luxury of traveling for a living you know, and not only seeing new places, but also meeting all sorts of cool new people. People that are so creative and in the creative world. Gosh, and I think just being around that energy and getting to experience all different cultures....it's kinda opened my mind like Holy Crap! There is country everywhere! You know....i'm a guy that grew up in Middleton TN, I never really got to travel anywhere except to go see my grandparents in Florida growing up. Until my music took off, then I started discovering that there is people like me all over the world. So I think that all those travels and those adventures and meeting all these influential people that I didn't know where influencing me is really what inspired me to kinda chase this.

TwT: There really is a lack of options when it comes to this particular edgy/country look. Is that something that fueled the fire in creating this?

Dustin: OMG, are you kidding me?! Yes! There really isn't anything! For me, getting that western look, I really have to work at it! I have to pick up something that's out there and maybe work on it awhile to make it look cool and not stiff feeling. With this collection, we really take that part of it out.

Twt: It was amazing to be able to touch and feel the collection tonight, that was something I noticed right away, that the feel of it was extremely soft and comfortable. Almost like it was worn in already.

Dustin: Yea! we do the work for ya! That was something really important to me, I have had stiff clothes so many times before and it just doesn't work. Specially on stage, ya can't move! For me too, it makes me feel uncomfortable and therefore then connivence goes out the door then. And really, that is what clothing is. It gives you a certain feeling inside, a connivence. It kinda sets the tone for the day!

TwT: What is your personal favorite piece in the collection.

Dustin: My personal favorite is this jacket I'm wearing right here. (see photo bellow)
It really is! It's something that I have worn onstage, it came out of necessity really. I was looking for a denim that didn't feel.....too....Kenny Powers?! You know? Like not too George Strait! I was looking for just the right amount of rock star in a country thing.

TwT: I totally get it! And when we can't find, we create, right?!

Dustin: And when we can't find....we create! Yes!

5 Time Saving Tricks That Every Trendy Mama Needs To Know.

5/16/2017

Life gets crazy sometime, especially for us Moms! Sometimes we have all the time in the world to put our looks together but sometimes moments like bellow happen, even to me (ok, especially to me!) and we need some solid "frumpy to fabulous" tricks up our sleeves.

Picture
It's 3:00pm and as I'm racing around to finish my aggressive to do list before my kids come home and the crazy kicks in, I remember I have parent teacher conferences after school. F*@K!!! I silently curse in my head even though nobody is around to hear as I look down at my work out clothes that didn't get used to work out in...again, despite my vow of determination to make time today to take better care of myself. I look like a disaster. Not a fun carefree "low maintenance" but put together mom that has her life in order. Oh no. I'm talking " last night's eye makeup still hanging on, messy bun but not cute messy....you need a brush messy....and while you're at it, you need Jesus too" I need help. I have 20 min to go from "my life is clearly falling apart mom" to "effortlessly together and somewhat organized mom". (Hey, I'm not preaching perfection here.) Plus I'm in FASHION, people expect me to be EXTRA fabulous and of course "Trendy" (Cursing my choice of my area of expertise) MOTHER EFF!! I have had enough of these moments that I have learned to rely on a few go to things to make my life just a little more put together.  I can only hope my moments of struggle can bring you some inspiration.

Picture
1. Black Blazer = Insta CHIC

This will instantly dress up and polish ANY look! Throw it on over a sundress, over a tank and jeans, or with your fav skirt. Black is my suggested color but if you wear a more beige/white color palette then pick up one in that family. The key is to have an amazing fit. Definitely one of those staple  pieces in your closet that is worth the splurge for and also think about getting it tailored. I alway feel so posh in a black blazer, black tank and skinny jeans. Sometimes I even add in a British accent, bc you know....nobody is questioning if Victoria Beckham has her life together.

Picture
2. Oversized CHIC Sunglasses
Perfect for hiding the dark circles under your eyes but only really helps if you're going to be staying outside. Great for a Carpool CHIC look.

Picture
3. Lip & Cheek Cream Palette

I keep this little magical palette on me for quick on the go "I need to add some color to my face asap" moments. One little palette and the colors can be used on your cheeks and lips. Quick and easy application is what is the real winning trick here. Apply with your fingers and the balm is effortlessly blended with ease and light enough that you don't need to fuss about getting an even lined lip. It also sets well and won't streak on your cheeks  When you have no time to do your entire face, add some lip color, cheek color and put on your sun glasses. Done and Done.

Picture
4. Keep it Simple
Save yourself the trouble of pairing together looks. I like to have 3-5 go-to fuss free looks I can grab and go. Keep them to one piece (like a jumpsuit or a dress) add some cute shoes and done! If it's cold, layer a jacket over it.

Picture
5. Sleek it back
If I'm running out the door, I have zero time for hot tools or trying to get my long lifeless hair to pep up. Pulling your hair back in a low sleek knot is not only extremely quick and easy to do, but it also looks way chic and put together. Nobody has to know you skipped the hot tools today..... or the hot shower.

As always I hope I helped, stay fabulous!

Kicking off the week is Envision, one of the largest and most highly anticipated events celebrating fashion in the Twin Cities. Envision brings its Spring 2017 season to Machine Shop on Friday, April 21.

Dubbed “best fashion show” by Star Tribune, Envision has been a steady force in Minnesota fashion for over a decade. The event’s 21st season will showcase current collections

The Designers-

Staying true to their intention for the event to serve as a source of inspiration and trend-spotting, Envision will show current Spring 2017 collections.

The intimate and industrial setting of Envision Spring 2017's new venue, Machine Shop, will bring Envision's modern approach to runway production to life. Located in the heart of Minneapolis’ historic Saint Anthony district, this magical venue has been carefully restored, keeping the original 1916 architectural details intact while introducing contemporary luxury.

Ticket info-

A portion of the event proceeds, 100% of the silent auction and $1 of every presale ticket will benefit non-profit partner, Public Functionary.
Ticket prices range from $30-$80 and can be purchased at
www.vitalculture.com/events/detail/3341
They also usually have GA still available at the door.

What to wear-

Honestly, when it comes to fashion events, almost anything goes!
A couple key guidelines I like to go by: Don't wear jeans unless it's at a super casual venue (like a brewery) or you dress them up. I usually try to follow the dress code for the venue. Show your own sense of style and personally in your look. Wear amazing shoes but make sure they are comfortable.

To further help you put your look together, I put together this Pinterest board for inspiration:

Here are my looks from the last few Envision shows.

DIY Makeup Essentials

4 Makeup essentials that you can DIY
By Hillary Kline

Picture
Picture
Let’s face it, sometimes we are feverishly scrounging through couch cushions and chairs to find some spare change to gather so we can hit the store and buy more makeup. Is it just me? Maybe?
I have found that there are certain makeup products worth splurging and spending the money on, but there are some items that you can definitely make at home.

Here are my top four makeup essentials that you can DIY:

Brush Cleaner:
Why waste the money paying for brush cleaner when you can make your own. What I do is mix antibacterial soap and olive oil together then clean my brushes. Set them out on a towel overnight to dry so they are ready to use the next morning.

Eye Makeup Remover:
If you want to make eye makeup remover at home, I like to use two tablespoons of witch hazel, two tablespoons of almond oil and two tablespoons of water. Mix them all together and shake well. Then, use a cotton ball or a makeup pad and swipe over closed eyelids. This is the only mixture I have found that does not sting my eyes – it’s eye-friendly!

Setting Spray:
Rose water is going to be your BFF! Mix ½ cup of rose water and one tablespoon of aloe vera gel or glycerin then pour it all into a spray bottle. Rose water is great because it has anti-inflammatory ingredients that helps to heal irritated skin, rid acne, dermatitis and eczema

Face Primer:
This one requires a little more work compared to the other DIY makeup products. First gather your ingredients: use 1/3 cup of aloe vera, one teaspoon of coconut oil and mineral powder. Carefully peel the leaf from the aloe vera and put the contents into a bowl. Next, you’re going to melt down the coconut oil in a microwave. This works best if the coconut is slightly thick in order to create a nice consistency. Make sure you’ve mashed all the aloe so you keep your primer smooth. Apply the primer after you have moisturized your skin.

5 Fashion Trends That Have Hit Their Expiration Date.

1/20/2017

Trends, by definition, aren’t made to last forever. Each one comes with an expiration (and, in many cases, a renewal) date. Every year, certain fashions (off-the-shoulder tops, chokers) rise to stardom, taking over our closets and Instagram feeds. And then these new obsessions gradually dim and collapse. It’s the circle of fashion life. As they say, out with the old in with the new. Here are 10 fashion trends that served us well in 2016, but are nonetheless due for retirement.
Of course, keep in mind that trends are subjective and feeling good about yourself in a certain item is a good enough reason to wear it year in and year out.

Picture
The "off the shoulder top"

In 2016, no article of clothing was used and abused more than the off-the-shoulder top.
They were everywhere. On Instagram. On every page of every magazine. Like many trends that rise to this level, they fall quickly and hard.
 Moving on.

Picture
Chokers

Chokers have weaved in and out of fashion for years, but in 2015/16 they exploded annoyingly so almost. Every imaginable interpretation of the neck garnishment adorned every neck imaginable. Dainty, statement, double-wrapped and layered, there was certainly enough variety to keep the choker love alive. Then things got weird. New takes on the accessory seem less inventive, more desperate to stand out from the crowd. Perhaps it's time to move on to something truly different. I'm still ok with a long suede piece with some personalized beads on the end. You can have some creativity in wrapping and tying them. But as for the rest, gotta go!

Extreme Distressed "Bare Butt"  Jeans

DIY Distressed Denim? Still on Trend! Exposing random patches of your rear end for no apparent reason? WEIRD!
Kylie Jenner and Taylor Hill pioneered this impractical trend. Why!? Make it stop.

Picture

"Instafaces"
Instagram is a place of beauty extremes and "eyebrows on fleek," but a specific type of "Instagram face" has become unique to the beauty bloggers and micro-influncers who inhabit the social media site.
Boxy, blended brows, acres of contour, matte, thick foundation, lashings of lashes, a ice white highlight and lips over lined with a Kylie lip kit are the hall marks of the "Instagram face," which has become far too popular. Lets. Move. On.
Not Hatin' Just Statin'!

Picture

Lace up EVERYTHING
The style blogging scene adopting the trend at an alarming rate, this bondage-esque fad was chic for five minutes and then tired for the rest of the year, though that didn't stop the lace up becoming the most popular detail on our social media feeds. Hard Pass.

Top 7 MUST HAVES For Your Purse

8/11/2016

Whether it’s going out for a night on the town and you’re using a clutch, or your everyday massively large bag, our beauty expert and guru Hillary Kline breaks down the top 7 things every woman should have in her hand bag.

Picture

1. A mini mascara. Pick up Benefit Cosmetics Travel Size BADgal Lash Mascara for $10. You’ll get dramatic and voluminous in just a few coats.
Picture

2. An eyelash curler. Mascara works wonders and can really open up the eyes, but just mascara alone won’t give lashes curl. By having an eyelash curler in your purse, you can add instant curl and look super-fresh. I have been loving Revlon’s eyelash curler, which won’t break the bank at $5.99.
Picture
Picture

3. Keep it clean. Every woman should have a mini anti-bacterial hand sanitzer in her purse. The aloe helps condition and soften hands and helps fight germs.

4. Smell fresh. Forget about lugging around a huge bottle of perfume, invest in a roll-on perfume, which can be a lifesaver. These roller-balls are tiny and you won’t have to worry about spilling any of its contents in your bag. Lately I have been loving Marc Jacobs Decadence Eau de ParfumRollerball.

Picture

5. Pucker up. Every woman should put her favorite shade of lipstick in her purse. Lipstick doesn’t take up much space in your purse. Lately I have been using Too Faced La Matte Drench Matte Lipstick in the shade “Bachelorette.” If you want to use both lipstick and a lipgloss, I recommend using a lip combo. One of my favorites is Tarte’s Double Duty Beauty The Sculptor Double Ended Lipstick and Gloss in “Basic”

6. Breath mints. Whether you just got out from lunch and need to head to a meeting, or you know that you’re going to kiss that cute guy, be prepared with fresh breath.

7.  Cleanse the skin. Keep travel-sized towelettes in your purse to remove makeup and cleanse skin after a long day. I enjoy the Yes to Cucumbers On-The-Go Facial Towelettes as they are refreshing and soothe the face.

20 Days of Tressie

5/1/2016

Picture
Let it begin!!! May first marks the first day of my birthday month and seeing my birthday is on the 20th, The 20 days of Tressie was born! (it has a nice ring to it!)  I didn't just wake up one morning and say I'm going to celebrate 20 days of me! It morphed into this slowly! It all started with the fact that my mother's birthday is on May 15th and mine is May 20th. So growing up we did have "our" birthday month and did special things just her and I all around this time. She didn't know then that she was creating a bit of a monster : )
Slowly but surely over the years we started doing Birthday weeks at my house for myself and my girls, little surprises and treats and fun outings the week of our birthdays. Then I met Casey 3 years ago. Right before my birthday week I started to tell her about it, expecting the usual eye roll and you're ridiculous from her, she laughed and said a week! I do a whole month! My draw dropped to the floor and I looked at her in pure admiration! There really are others like me out there! That celebrate life and love it! That say," Hey! Let us make a big deal here, because you know what? I am kinda a big deal and I'm not going to let you make me feel bad about it! " The 20 days of Tressie then came to be. With every day leading up to my birthday I do something special for myself.
Now hold the eye rolls, and the OMG you are such a spoiled brat and you are ridiculous. It is not about others getting me gifts or doing anything for me in these 20 days. (although my family and friends have jumped on the bandwagon a bit)  It's about me myself and I. It's about celebrating my life! It's about self reflection and looking back at the last year, setting goals for the year to come. It's about being thankful and feeling blessed for what I have and taking time out of my busy crazy life and thinking about it and appreciating it. Appreciating my life and the fact I have lived yet another year.
It is hard for anyone to take time out to celebrate life, and for people like me, a busy mom and career women it just does not happen often. The long soak in the bath is interrupted 50 times, the massage you schedule gets put off because you are to busy at work, the $50 goes to dance shoes instead of stilettos. There is always something else I should be doing or something else I should be buying or calories I should not be consuming or time I just don't have. There are always others that need my energy and affection. Always work that needs to get done. In these next 20 days it's time for me to put things on hold even for a few min each day. Yes I may have a bit of laundry build up and Yes I may have some work that gets put off and Yes, I may gain a few lbs, things might be let go. Those things will be there in 20 days.  I choose to celebrate another year of life and treat myself and take time out to enjoy the simple small things in life that I normally don't take time to enjoy.  Everyday I will do something for myself that I normally don't do because of time or whatever the reason. I'm going to take long baths while drinking wine, I'm going to eat a big piece of chocolate and not feel even a little guilty! I'm going to go to Starbucks and not think how it's ridiculous this cost $5. I'm going to get a massage and a Pedi, I'm going to curl up with a book and not worry about the laundry or the 100 other things that need to get done. I'm going to meet up with friends for coffee, lunch, or drinks. I'm going to have a whole day (this one is going to be hard) where I don't have to go anywhere or do anything and stay in yoga pants and no makeup all day!  For the love of sweet baby Jesus I'm going to take a nap!! And I'm going to buy the damn shoes! Because life is short people! I'm going to live mine!  Who's with me!?

Remember: Those who matter don't mind, and those who mind well they just don't matter!
Everyday I will document somehow, what I do to celebrate life. At the end of these 20 days of Tressie, I will share the journey in another blog post : )
