4 Makeup essentials that you can DIY
By Hillary Kline
I have found that there are certain makeup products worth splurging and spending the money on, but there are some items that you can definitely make at home.
Here are my top four makeup essentials that you can DIY:
Brush Cleaner:
Why waste the money paying for brush cleaner when you can make your own. What I do is mix antibacterial soap and olive oil together then clean my brushes. Set them out on a towel overnight to dry so they are ready to use the next morning.
Eye Makeup Remover:
If you want to make eye makeup remover at home, I like to use two tablespoons of witch hazel, two tablespoons of almond oil and two tablespoons of water. Mix them all together and shake well. Then, use a cotton ball or a makeup pad and swipe over closed eyelids. This is the only mixture I have found that does not sting my eyes – it’s eye-friendly!
Setting Spray:
Rose water is going to be your BFF! Mix ½ cup of rose water and one tablespoon of aloe vera gel or glycerin then pour it all into a spray bottle. Rose water is great because it has anti-inflammatory ingredients that helps to heal irritated skin, rid acne, dermatitis and eczema
Face Primer:
This one requires a little more work compared to the other DIY makeup products. First gather your ingredients: use 1/3 cup of aloe vera, one teaspoon of coconut oil and mineral powder. Carefully peel the leaf from the aloe vera and put the contents into a bowl. Next, you’re going to melt down the coconut oil in a microwave. This works best if the coconut is slightly thick in order to create a nice consistency. Make sure you’ve mashed all the aloe so you keep your primer smooth. Apply the primer after you have moisturized your skin.
